The Creative Places Arts Facilities (CPAF) program assists arts organizations in building, renovating, restoring, or enhancing facilities used for arts activities that benefit Alabamians.
The Council on the Arts will accept requests from performing arts centers, art museums and galleries, multi-purpose arts centers, artist residency facilities, and outdoor performance venues.
Requests can be submitted in one of the following 3 categories:
- Enhancement grants offer funding for equipment purchases and upgrades that will improve how cultural assets and works of art are presented, produced, exhibited, and/or preserved (lighting, sounds, seating, etc.). Applicants may request up to $50,000. No required match of applicant-funded expenses.
- Design grants fund necessary steps to build, renovate, reuse, or restore an arts facility. Results must include tangible designs in the form of blueprints, schematics, renderings, or other documents needed for construction. Applicants may request up to $75,000; these grants require applicant-funded expenses equal to, or greater than, the amount requested.
- Construction grants fund the building of a new facility, substantial renovations of an existing facility, or significant repairs/modifications of existing facilities. Applicants may request up to $100,000; these grants require applicant-funded expenses equal to, or greater than, the amount requested.
Applications open in September. Check back soon for grant guidelines.
