Council on the Arts now accepting grant applications

Arts organizations can apply for the Alabama Arts Recovery Program and project-based funding

MONTGOMERY, Ala., (July 1, 2021) Alabama State Council on the Arts is now accepting grant submissions for the Alabama Arts Recovery Program and annual grants programs. Grants awarded by the Council on the Arts enhance the quality of life and economic vitality for all Alabamians by providing support for the state’s diverse and rich artistic resources.

The focus of the Alabama Arts Recovery Program is operating costs that assist Alabama’s wide range of arts organizations. Applications are due Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. CT.

Recent American Rescue Plan stimulus funding supports this grant program ($814,100 in funding from the National Endowment for the Arts was designated for Alabama’s arts industry recovery effort). Alabama arts organizations are economic drivers, bringing tourism to communities and providing thousands of jobs statewide. Alabama Arts Recovery Program grants will help eligible small, medium, and large arts organizations sustain operations, with grants of $10,000, $15,000, $20,000, and $25,000 available.

Alabama Arts Recovery Program – Relief funding for organizations

  • To assist with operating costs in five categories: personnel, facility costs, health safety supplies, marketing/promotion, and technology & equipment
  • Grant application – Accepted Thursday, July 1 (beginning at 8:00 a.m.)
  • Deadline to apply – Sunday, July 18 (by 5:00 p.m.)

Grants focused on programming are available through the Council’s annual grants cycle, with the next deadline coming September 1, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. CT. The application portal is now open for submissions for arts in education grants, project grants for organizations, and folk arts apprenticeship requests.
