Sontonia T. K. Stephens graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and received a Masters in Counseling from the University of West Alabama. Having over twenty years experience in social service delivery, non-profit, and grant management, she has been a voice for low-income and vulnerable populations in West Alabama.

In continuing with her passion of advocacy and community service, Sontonia is devoted to bridging the arts to underserved populations. Her volunteerism, current and past, includes Board of Directors Member of Arts ‘n Autism; Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama; Child Abuse Prevention Services; Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa; Kentuck Art Center; National Fuel Funds Network; Shelton State Foundation; Temporary Emergency Services; Theatre Tuscaloosa; and Tuscaloosa Exchange Club Foundation.

Ms. Stephens is a graduate of and participates in the planning for Leadership Tuscaloosa. She received the Defining Woman Business Award from the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, signifying her professional influence through numerous accomplishments, career growth and advancement, innovative and creative thinking and initiative at work and in the community.

She has been a member of the Council since 2008 and currenlty serves on the grants review committee.
