Diana Van Fossen

Arts in Education Program Manager, Diana Green,
interviews Diana
Van Fossen of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
Diana is the wife of artistic director, Geoffrey
Sherman and is an accomplished actor and
director in her own right. In this interview she
discusses her process in the direction of Much
Ado About Nothing, The Trojan Women and her current direction of
To
Kill a Mockingbird.
Diana Van Fossen traveled
to England on a post graduate Thomas
J Watson Fellowship, and then studied for
the stage at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Her teacher, Kathleen Stafford, had acting
students voice English poetry from Chaucer to
the moderns so that they would
have experienced every sound possible in the
English language. Diana performed with
London's Royal
Shakespeare Company, in films and TV as well
as Off-Broadway and in leading roles with
regional theatres. She is a seven
season ASF Associate Artist where
she played Lettice Duffet in Lettice
and Lovage and is currently directing To
Kill A Mockingbird for the Festival
Stage.
